Quote:

What is an epidural and why is it helpful?

An epidural injection places anti-inflammatory medicine into the epidural space to decrease inflammation of the nerve roots, hopefully reducing the pain in
the back or legs. The epidural injection may help the injury to heal by reducing inflammation. It may provide permanent relief or provide a period of pain
relief for several months while the injury/cause of pain is healing.

Hi! I had an epidural nearly 4 years ago and it did no good at all. In fact, it gave me a migraine for days afterwards and my back swelled up so I
couldn't lie on it. I was very angry because although I told them beforehand that I suffered from migraine, they should have done a blood patch, which
apparently helps stop headaches but as it costs more, they didn't bother! I have heard of cases where epidurals do help though, and I wouldn't want my
experience to put others off....
