DIAGNOSIS AND EDUCATION
Once a physician rules out other potential disorders, an important and at times controversial step in the management of fibromyalgia is making the diagnosis.
Despite some assumptions that being labeled with fibromyalgia may adversely affect patients, a study by White et al. indicated that patients had significant
improvement in health satisfaction and symptoms after being given this label.20 Nonetheless, in certain selected individuals,...

Wonderful article, except for one thing- once it got to drug efficacy, like so many others, the focus was on antidepressants. When I was first diagnosed, they
tried me out on so many different antidepressants it wasn't even funny. ALL of them did absolutely nothing for the pain, and gave me horrendous side
effects that did not go away or diminish in time. The shortest course I was on lasted a month, the longest 6 months, before I had to wean off of them because
my quality of life went FAR...

WOW! I did read this and a lot made sense. Thank goodness that it finally says that we can have pain ANYWHERE there are muscles and tendons. My doctor kept
telling me that he didn't understand why I have pain and burning in my hands and feet as FMS doesn't manifest there. ugh...

Needless to say I will be printing this out and faxing it over to his nurse.

Thanks for the great article!

Whoa, lots to read and absorb. I did read some tho, and it sounds logical. What I don't like is the fact that they are so interested in trying all kinds
of drugs on us, like we are lab rats.

I believe in extra attention to nutrition and boosting the immune system through same. This is what I have just started doing, plus some other alternative
healing modalities. I figure it is worth a try at least.

diagnoses.
