Often it can be preferable to reduce the size of a picture when you post:



1. to get it to fit in a post so people can see the whole picture without having to use a scroll bar at the bottom


2. to reduce the number of bytes so the page will be easier to load for those with slow Internet connections (e.g dial-up&#39;s)

When we talk about bytes in a picture, we&#39;re referring to how much information is stored in the picture. Usually with photos you can say, the larger the
photo, the more bytes, and the best way to reduce the number of bytes is to resize to a smaller pictures.
