My son had this diagnoses verfied by ultra sound. Eccentric exercise is all they believe in...which is making him worse..

Tendinosis is an accumulation over time of small-scale injuries that don't heal properly; it is a chronic injury of failed healing. Although you
can't see the tendinosis injury on the outside of your body, researchers have seen what the injury looks like on the cellular scale by viewing slides of
  tendons under the microscope....

The following website describes one patient's protocol. Over two years he experimented through trial-and-error three different programs of eccentric

I did a Google search for the sort of treatment that they use in the UK for treatment of tendinoses.

I thought I would post the link, as I'm not sure you get to see UK pages when you use Google. You probably get Norweigan and American. We get UK and

Anyway this link talks of the use of ultrasound for use in degenerative tendinoses.
I'm so sorry that the eccentric exercise is not improving the condition for your son.

I don't know if this is quite the same thing, but I have had weak tendons and ligaments since childhood. A kind of genetic weakness in the tendons.
They damage very easily and if I over-use them then the pain is severe, and then for a while afterwards the slightest use of that area brings on sharp pain.
Worst affected are knees, feet, shoulders, arms,...
