Thanks Linda!
![]() I know of a diet for MS patients too. It's kind of similar to this one. I do believe our food intake is very important. After all, we are what we eat... ![]() Moody |

Moody you know of a diet for MS patients and you
know that diet is very important so how well do you
follow one.
![]() I
know what I eat is downright unhealthy but don't do a
thing about it. I like what I eat so I'm hopeless at any
sort of healthy diet.

Me too, Wendy. When I saw that you have to quit
drinking coffee for this diet I gave up before I started
![]() ![]() It's a very strict diet, so I wouldn't be able to keep to it. I hate diets anyway.

I am on several diets, but not to lose weight or
anything. I have so many things going on,was in a lot of
pain. I had to change everything. And boy was it hard, it
is hard now. But it gets easier each day.
I never did smoke, gave up the once in a while drink, had already cut down to a couple cups of coffee( cut out all caffeine, pop and tea!!!!), had to cut down on foods with a lot of acid in them even juice etc..., cut out about all MSG, cut down to almost no sugar, etc.... Thought I would die there for a few days but I made it, lol. I still slip up. I still eat meat, carbs, some fruits, snacks, I need to eat more vegs. I always did drink lots of water. Sometimes a herbal tea, some rice dream milk, I can't drink milk or eat dairy. I used to be able to till a few years ago, then it started bothering me really bad even with lactose tablets. I also have trouble with whole wheat bread. hugs, Connie So it can be done but it is hard. I am starting on some vitamins too. |

Yes was having status migraines, throwing up just
about every single day. I have had a daily headache (well
about every day since a teen). Working on getting rid of
those, maybe never will go completely away? Tried so
much, maybe diet is the key??? I don't know. This diet
thing takes time and effort. I have a headache book too
and you cut out some foods for 4 months and slowly add 1
back at a time to see how you will react( if you make it
that long, lol). With the awful migraines I was having, I
will make it!!!!!
Think it may involve my neck, well I have problems with my neck. But the headaches are better , getting more bearable again. I am not throwing up every day!!!!!! My interstitial cystitis(IC) It is so much better now. That is something that causes pain and burning in the urinary tract.Very painful!!!! Trying some new vitamins, can't even take all the new vitamins b/c of this, my body is letting me know!!!! I do get tired without the caffeine but it causes migraines and makes my IC so much worse!!!!!I get tired any way!!! It is leveling off. I could not take the pain, so I had to give up the foods and caffeine, otherwise I really do not think I would of to be honest. I love coffee, and think if you don't have headaches or health conditions 3 cups or less a day or some tea will not hurt you to honest. It is all in moderation, but with some health condtions like mine, you just can't drink it. Hugs, Connie

about diet | #9 | ||

It is true that many of us are probably on restrictive diets--due to food allergies, IC, IBS, Fibromyalgia, etc. I am on a gluten-free diet, because I can't tolerate wheat or gluten products..causes horrible stomach pain, but I have found out I can tolerate spelt bread, which tastes like wheat bread, and is basically the only gluten-free bread that tastes normal..most of the other ones on the market are really cardboard-like and gross. Oh, for those battling with viral illnesses, like EBV--I've found that raspberries have excellent antiviral properties and just mixing them up in a smoothie--1/2 cup of raspberries, 1/2 cup of strawberries, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup of blueberries and 1 cup of milk, with some protein powder mixed in and ice cubes really soothes the system, and helps the throat..particularly if you add a tsp. of honey to the smoothie. I am a smoothie-nut..hehe. About caffeine..I know it is frowned upon for the adrenal glands, because it sends the adrenals into overdrive, and doesn't exactly help IBS or IC either, but I have found that it helps the pain in my knees--I have chondromalacia patellae--almost dissipate completely and I can walk up the stairs on my own without problems, and can actually get through the day with modest energy, although I am not even going to talk about the problems the caffeine wreaks upon my sleep at night, but that's another issue..hehe. --Julie

I have changed my diet a little. Added back some
tea and such. Had to pretty much give up carbs. First
thought I had celiac disease, don't know now could be
gluten intolerance? Something is going on with my stomach
though. I have to still go to other specialists for
follow ups, etc.....
NO MSG is a hard diet to follow but I try. I am going to try the SCD diet 100% soon when I get my yogurt maker I ordered. The link is on my profile. It is for stomach problems and other conditions. Connie |

do have one weakness..........I absolutely love
coffee....cappuccino, latte, etc....I do use decaf coffee
though whenI use my frothy maker. Does that count

Nutrition and Diet for Fm | #13 | ||
if I took
all the "essential" things that they
say- I'd be a pill popper all day- and a broke one at
that! Do you guys take all those nutritional supplements? Do any of them REALLY make a difference- a difference that you have NOTICED? |

I've found that many supplements are unneccessary.
DHEA did absolutely nothing for me, for instance. I think
I took it for a few years.
What I've done is strip my supplements back to what seems to really help, and this is now what I take, in addition to what the doc gives me: Guaifenesin Protocol (This has slowly helped remove toxins, so staying on it) 600 mg per day, LA (I Can tolerate 1200mg SA better). Biotin, 1000 mcg - Topamax depletes this, and makes my hair fall out if I don't take it. SuperB complex - once a day Potassium - One pill a day, reduces muscle cramps Magnesium - One a day, helps to reduce muscle cramps Multivitamin - One a day Fish Oil Cap - One a day (Mom makes me take them, lol) Glucosamine & Chondroitin - not sure if it really helps, but I bought a bottle on sale I was taking so maaany supplements, it was costing almost more than my prescription drugs. I had to cut back, so we could afford my drugs, and most supplements were unnecessary anyway. I consulted my doctor, and my IBS is forever thankful to the cutback! I'm on the Reactive Hypoglycemic diet, which also controls my IBS. Yes, I do enjoy chocolate, but only in small doses - sugar will hurt me, and I can get migraines from dried fruit we now know. - Julie |
