I have introduced myself on smalltalk but now need to give the whole story
My hobbies are reading (lots and lots), I just started machine quilting, in fact, am making one for my son's wedding and of course my soap operas All My Children and General Hospital which I have watched for 38 years!!! LOLOL I also love to cook and try new things but standing has become a problem for that. I have to have somebody help me with my housework and we order meals through this place called Make & Take Gourmet. The meals are already prepared and even my husband can fix them.
I have always had arthritis but in the past 6 months my pain has escalated about 80%. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 3 years ago but I could always manage the pain. Now, it seems I have polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and it is so disabling. I am a medical transcriptionist by trade and it is so hard to type from day-to-day. For a couple of weeks at a time nothing seems to manage the pain then one day I will wake up pain free. It is very frustrating and as I posted on small talk, very isolating for me. Both of my children live out of state so don't get to see them. I talk to them a lot but it isn't the same thing. I work out of my home which seems to isolate me even more but I am grateful that I can work out of my house. Everything seems such an effort. I just got a slew of labs done today and go back to the Rheumatologist on Wednesday so hopefully we can start treating this. I have other diseases, high bp, diabetes, hypothyroidism and had a gastric bypass so medications are definitely limiting for me.
I feel like I am letting this pain define me. My head is still very very young and wants to do things but my body shuts up my head every time! Well, that's about it for me that I can think of. I am very grateful to have found this board!!!
