What do you do when you're in pain and nothing works? Do you go to bed and wait until it's over? Or do you try to distranct your mind from the pain?
Just curious!

What do you do when no painkiller seems to work? |

I've got this terrible pain in my neck and back of my head. I've got that sort of pain usually for about 3 days continuously and then it's gone for
a couple of weeks. Nothing seems to help. I tried Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Neurontin, putting on Voltaren cream, alternative creams, warmth anything! It usually
comes with an increase in fatigue, so I rest more than usual, but nothing takes away the pain. It drives me crazy!

I am sorry you are having this pain. I understand how you must feel though. Yes sometimes medications just does not touch the pain. I then try heat/ice,
going to bed, watching tv or anything else to try to distract me. But usually I just have to work through it. I do self talk and try to relax. Sometimes
that does help. Sleeping is usually impossible due to the pain being severe but sometimes I just want to be left alone. Talking to someone is a struggle so I
go lie down and work at relaxing and picturing the pain leaving my body.
I wish you better health and that this pain will leave soon. |

Hi Moody!
So sorry you are suffering. I have two pains that I cannot control, no matter what and they are migraine and ruptured lumbar discs with sciatic nerve pain thrown in for good measure. For migraine, I wrap a towel round my head to stop light entering, close the bedroom curtains and hubby makes sure no food smells invade the room as I can't bear it. I stay in bed until it goes. For the back problem, I cannot move my body at all and try to stay as still as I can as even moving limbs causes too much pain. Unfortunately, there are pains so severe that nothing bar a full anasthetic can help! You seem to be taking everything you can, so I can only suggest that you lie down in a calm room and wait for it to subside. Sorry I can't help you more. Penny |

This is very strange because for 8 years I had the identical symptoms to what you are describing! The pain was in the back of the head and the neck. It was a terrible unbearable pain, and it would last exactly 3 days! It would happen exactly every ten days! I haven't had it for 5 years now .... Must have grown out of it, maybe ... Because it was periodic and always lasted the same length of time, I always thought it was some kind of migraine. For an over the counter med, I think your best bet would be something with codeine in it. If you can get it, Syndol also has a muscle and blood vessel relaxant in it as well as the codeine, and is particularly good for back of head pain that extends down into the neck. Seems to relax the muscles, and the blood vessels in the head. Poor you .... It's scarey when the pain killers don't work ... jilly

Good morning Moody Belgium,
I have those symptoms off and on myself. Did you try to watch your food? Sometimes this pain can be brought on by food allergies. I know I have changed some food in my diet and it has gotten somewhat better. The other thing which helps me when I just feel it coming on is Jasmine Green Tea. I got this tip once from an old chinese man. Maybe you want to give it a try as well. For the rest I am using Cream with Campher, Rosmarine, Eucalypthus in it and sometimes I am using cold compresses on it ... other times warm. And I try to rest a lot. Hope you are soon going to figure out what this is. Take care TURMALIN |

HI Moody I'm sorry that
you've been hurting so bad . I know how you feel . when nothing else helps I make a small mug of valerian root tea with honey . It really helps quickly .
The only draw back is that it normally puts me to sleep . But it helps .

I'm sorry you are suffering so.
As to what I do, take a bath as hot as I can stand with epsom salts (magnesium sulfate and mayb some tea tree oil or rosemary oil in the water) for the moment and talk to my doc about changing antibiotics. A high school student got her work published for work showing that the maps of high MS and High Lyme incidence were indentical in distribution. It caused Scotland to reassess how they were testing for Lyme as they have a high Lyme incidence and now they are finding more Lyme with more careful testing, though I doubt they are finding the majority. |

Yes Moody, that's excatly what i mean....but they do only work for a short while then you need to re use them. Like most other remedies, they are only
temporary. And they don't work for everyone. Here in the states physical therapists will try them on you first before you buy an expensive machine.

I have similar headaches Moody. And neck pain. I can't say they last for any certain length of time tho. I use a hand held massager and put it on the
neck and the back of my head for a while. I have been having pain in my sinus cavities above the eye brows. I use the massager there, and then I sneeze and
have to blow my nose. But, I do think it releives the pressure in those sinus cavaties. you also have sinus cavities in the back of your head.
Maybe this will help you. I don't know. I have a back massager for my chair. It has two speeds and a heat element to it. I just love it. Otherwise, I use a cotton sock with rice in it. And microwave it for 2 minutes. That seems to do the most good when I feel this way. I hope by now you found some relief. Thinking of you. God bless |

It sounds as though you could be having problems with trigger points. I have gotten rid of the type of headache and migraine you describe by working on
trigger points and releasing them. There is a wonderful article in this edition of "The Fibromyalgia Network Newsletter" about this exact thing! I
will be posting it when I get the chance. At the end of the article they talk about the book I use and have used for several years to knock out trigger points
on myself. It is called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: Second Edition by Clair Davies. It has worked wonders for me! I use a lacrosse ball
against the wall as well as a theracane to release my trigger points. Next to my bible it is the most read book in my house! You can order it at www.amazon.com for $12.97 plus shipping or get it at a bookstore where it usually runs $19.95. You can order the theracane at
www.theracane.net if you are interested in it.

So sorry to hear about the pain, Moody. I am in the same boat. I have pain in the head and back of the neck, (as well as my entire body) but for me it is
continuous -- never stops. Feels like a terrible burning sensation. I am on narcotics and that keeps the pain down enough to keep me sane, but not happy! I
use ice 24/7.
If your pain is migraine related, you might be interested in the book "Heal you Headache" by David Buchholz. It was recommended to me by a neurologist. It goes into great depth about food related triggers of head/neck pain. The culprit? Foods containing tyramine. It helped my pain somewhat to avoid those foods. Sue -- I am very interested to hear about your article and hope you will post it. I think I need to get that book on trigger points too... Take good care, Moody! |

I would encourage all of you to look into mangosteen juice. I was very skeptical when I was first was introduced to this juice. But after I looked at the
scientific research that has been done on this fruit , I was amazed. It turns out that this fruit is more highly anti-inflammitory than some perscriptions. It
is also very highly anti-oxident. People all over the world are having success with this. You can do your own research at www.pubmed.com (search mangosteen
and xanthones) you can also visit www.mangosteenmd.com for more science. If you would like to know what mangosteen product I use visit www.scottandmeridith.com. This is the only mangosteen product that uses the whole fruit, so you get everything it has to
offer. If you have any questions you can email me at johnsonclan2@charter.net I can send you testimaonials and put you in touch with others who are having
success. I wish you all the best.

This is in response to the post from Mr. Johnson -
FDA Home Page | Search FDA Site | FDA A-Z Index | Contact FDA | FDA Centennial
WARNING LETTER VIA FEDERAL EXPRESS Mr. Gary Hollister
Ref # - DEN-06-22 Dear Mr. Hollister :
FDA obtained brochures promoting the health benefits of mangosteens and mangosteen juice through contact information provided at a seminar at which representatives of your firm, David and Joe Morton, made presentations designed to recruit distributors for Xango. By using a telephone number provided by staff at the seminar, FDA ordered the "Mangosteen Brochure Combo Pack." FDA subsequently received a packet of brochures that included ten copies each of nine different brochures promoting the health benefits of mangosteens and mangosteen juice. The packet also included brochures aimed at recruiting distributors for your product. Under the Act, "labeling" is not limited to labels on the immediate container for your product. "Labeling" is defined in section 201(m)
the Act [21 U.S.C. 321(m)] as "all labels and other written, printed or graphic matter upon any article . . . or accompanying such article." The
brochures we received as a prospective distributor of your product meet the definition of "labeling" in section 201(m) of the Act.
From "Tame the Flame"
From "22 Reasons to Drink Mangosteen Juice"
From "An Introduction to Xanthones" -
From "Mangosteen and the Hormone Balancing Act" -
From "Xanthones and the Chiropractic Connection" -
From "Why Healthy People Drink Mangosteen Juice" -
From "The Xanthone Effect" - David A. Morton, Ph.D -
From "Mangosteen [and IBS, and Constipation] An Abdominal Surgeon's Perspective" -
These claims cause your product to be a drug, as defined in Section 201(g)(1)(B) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 321(g)(1)(B)] . Because this product is not generally recognized as safe and effective when used as labeled, it is also a new drug as defined in Section 201(p) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 321(p)]. New drugs may not be legally marketed in the United States without prior approval from FDA as described in section 505(a) of the Act [21 U.S.C. § 355(a)] . FDA approves new drugs on the basis of scientific data submitted by a drug sponsor to demonstrate that the drugs are safe and effective. The introduction or delivery for introduction into interstate commerce of an unapproved new drug is prohibited under the FD&C Act [21 U.S.C. 331(d)] and may lead to enforcement action, including seizure and/or injunction. Please advise this office in writing, within 15 working days of receipt of this letter, as to the specific steps you have taken or will be taking to prevent your distributors from promoting your product in a manner that violates the Act. Your reply should be directed to the attention of Regina Barrell, Compliance Officer, Food and Drug Administration, at the address shown on the letterhead above. Sincerely, /s/

While I certainly have NO faith in the USDa,and firmly believe that they do keep a lot of beneficial things off the market, Mr.Johnson is so obviously trolling
for customers/new company reps, that every post of his just reeks. When such remarkable claims are made about one particular plant, fruit, nut, root, whatever,
and you haven't heard a word about it except in posts such as these, you can pretty well bet it's a scam.Especially when the poster continually repeats
the same comments in each and every post he makes, without the benefit of ever trying to get to know anyone else on the board,or participating in any other
threads but the ones where the product can be pushed.
Great job, tirebiter. |
