With all the games and raffle on tables inside our neighbours house, we had a window of sunshine, just enough to run around the village, hiding little eggs
in stone walls, on gates, in grassy edges and in pot plants. The children were all gathered together and with hubby and I standing guard at one end of the
village and two other villagers at the other end, to ask cars to stop whilst the little ones were hunting, they were let loose like screaming hoards, clutching
their little paper bags, hoping to find an elusive silver egg, which meant an extra prize at the end!
Everyone found enough eggs to fill their bags and more. The smallest were helped by the bigger children, able to see higher and further. A little boy with
serious sight problems was helped by everyone, his bag seemingly filling magically by invisible hands.
At the end, with much laughing, giggling and comparing of bags to see who had the most, they all headed back indoors and then the heavens opened!
How good was that?
Back at the house, tea, coffee and squash was being served, along with home made Easter cakes, biscuits and sweets. Games started and raffle tickets were
sold. We had so many gifts for the raffle from bottles of wine to toiletries, from games to Easter eggs of all sizes and types, that it took 1/2 hour to
finish calling the raffle.
A wonderful time was had by all and an unexpected profit of £60 towards our November fireworks was made. And all because the rain stopped for one
hour..........................................................................!
