Norwegian news reported 600 Starbucks coffee shops have to close down. Will that be a problem here at the board, Mark??

Mosken, this will not cause any problems for us at the board (LOL) ... I still have plenty of virtual Starbucks
plus there will still be 1,500 actual stores still open

Gosh! Why are they closing them! Is it only in the US, or all around the world? We have hundreds of Starbucks in London and they are SO popular. I even have one here in Bromley Market Square which is only 1 mile away. But I'm so glad you will still be able to keep us supplied Mark ..... it's so nice to have a gorgeous starbucks coffee without even having to leave the house in the morning.

The only Starbucks stores that will be closed are in the US AND they're only closing the stores that have get only a few customers.
Thanks Jilly for what you said ... I should mention that the best Starbucks Latte' that I ever had was in London--to be precise, it was located in the food section of Harrods Department Store.

I'm guessing none are closing near me. Everytime I go in, which is not often, there is a steady line at the counter to order, with someone else working
full time, or two someones to fill the orders.
If you are out to try Starbucks in Germany this summer, I recommend the pumpking spice frappe on a hot day. Superb. |

Kit - you're probably OK if the Starbucks has a steady flow of customers.
Mosken - Germany has Starbucks - the list here only shows the stores in Frankfurt but I'm relatively positive that there must be Starbucks in other German cities.

My understanding of why Starbuck's is closing so many stores is the economy--directly tied to gasoline prices) The four dollars that many would spend on a
cup of Starbuck's coffee is now being spent on a gallon of gas. The coffee becomes a discretionary expense for many when the economy is hitting pocket
books hard.
We will not have problems getting our lattes and mochas though... there will still be so many stores, just not two per block! |

I think I am probably the only person on this board who has never had a Starbucks.
I am not a coffee lover anyway, so the closures won't bother me. Give me tea any day. Penny |

Penny, you are going to have to share that non-Starbucks drinker title.
When I was a child, I wasn't allowed to drink coffee. It seems all the adults did. I wanted to find out why adults drank coffee. They sure liked to drink a lot of it. I wanted to find out why. So, after most of the dishes were cleared from the table after the large holiday dinner, I noticed one cup was left, that had coffee in it. Everyone was off somewhere else visiting. SO, I took a quick drink of it (it had been sitting around for awhile and was cold). YUCK!!! Why did they like drinking that? Maybe it's an acquired taste. I like herbal tea. I also like hot chocolate (especially the mint flavored). May the rest of you not suffer from having a store closed near you. |

I heard on our local news that a lot of Starbucks are closing because many will be raising thier prices to cope with thier higher shipping costs, and many
stores are already suffering a loss of business because people are opting for cheaper coffee. They said that if Starbucks go through with the price hike, some
cities may see a cup going for as much as $7.
I don't really like coffee unless it's flavored, and sweet.I generally prefer green, white or herbal teas. I've only been to a Starbucks once, and didn't like it.I usually just brew my own at home(or hubby makes a wonderful cappuccino). However, we have a great little place over by the college campus called Cup-o-Joes, that has so many different flavors it's hard to choose one. But I have to say my favorite is one called a Snickers Bar- it has caramel and chocolate in it. |

I always loved coffee, but stomach problems have driven me to drinking tea instead. If I have a cup of coffee, my stomach gets upset and I get a tummy ache.
So I switched to green tea with lemon and sugar and I love it. I use the Chinese green tea, not the bags.
