Hi, my name is Jess and I have Fibromyalgia. I am sixteen and was diagnosed when I was only 11. I was a cheerleader and former hockey player, and in the midst
of practicing for an upcoming competition I started experiencing extreme pain in my knees along with fatigue. I was able to make it in school for three years
(although I was spending more time out then in, I was still passing). The disease was getting progressively worse so I made the decision to go into independant
studies. My mom suffers from fibromyalgia, too , and psoriatic arthritis, chipped discs, ect. so I always had an allie (sans the beg. when it was clear every
single person in my life thought I was faking) so I never felt the need to check out message boards or anything. Recently I took a trip to Nebraska for family
and found out a distant cousin also suffers from fibromyalgia. She was the first person I had come in contact with (through email) that was diagnosed at a
young age. It was then I realized that it would be nice to hear other's situations and learn more about the disease I have suffered from for so long.
Outside of the medical problems I LOVE to go concerts. One of my wildest dreams came true last July when I was invited to the set of Degrassi: The Next
Generation (which doubles as the set for Instant Star) in Toronto, Canada. Having to be home so often, I became a well-known superfan of the show on message
boards but that was the ultimate dream come true(= If anyone would like to talk to me I would love it if you replied to this or PMed me! Jess
