Conventional cat's claw contains TOA alkaloids that interfere with the desired immune modulation. The 14 person control group was given antibiotic therapy. At the study's termination 85% of those receiving the cat's claw preparation no longer had positive blood tests for Bb. All 28 persons had experienced a dramatic improvement in their clinical condition. No significant changes were seen in the control group. Improving nutrition, detoxifying and improving mental health all contribute to good results. Removal of mercury amalgams and treatment of heavy metals may be needed. Kit certainly believe/knows it can. I think it is controversial. I have tried that remedy for half a year or more..on and off. Had to stop because of the side effects. All my symptoms got worse and my glands became so bad I couldn't eat. In their view this is supposed to be sufficient. I am a personal witness to the fact that this is not always sufficient. I have a friend who was bitten by a tick. The tick was removed and 100mg of doxycycline was taken immediately, twice a day for 30 days. The day after the medication was stopped, this person presented with multiple lyme rashes all over their body, suggesting a systemic infection. When tested this person was CDC postive. So, not only is one dose not always enough, but in this case 30 days was not enough!

People need to KNOW it is possible they have Lyme...even they never have been bitten by a tick!!! Also...with new members like you...new discussions!!! My co founder Ebgirl told me about you...cause I have been travelling and was back yesterday. I am very excited reading your posts!

Posts: 7085 07/08/05 05:36 Medical Consultant California US	I have stuff to do and can't dig up links, can tell you where to find one, the ILADS website has Dr. Salvato and Harvey's paper on the subject if you look hard. My husband has sexually transmitted Lyme disease, with the only person in our family to have the rash! on the penis. Definitely not infected otherwise, He never hiked and camped, never did anything but lie on the sofa, sit at the computer or play bridge when he found me and started rehabilitating. He was good material. He can do other things now. Also infected in the family, my younger son, definitely congenital, transplacental infection from me. My older son possible transplacental infection, but I suspect mosquito infection from an illness acquired when he was 4 covered with mosquito bites and couldn't wake for days, looked like sleeping sickness. Lyme is documented to occur in around 20 insects. There was a study of puppies, just young pups all together in a laboratory pen. Sme given Lyme, they spread it to others before the age of sexual maturity by unknown mechanisms without the help of vectors such as fleas or ticks, or age for sex. There is food for thought.
