My name's Elly and I'm from the US. A handful of years ago (5 or so) I picked up a heavy frozen turkey at work. I lifted and twisted one way to get the turkey into the frozen case for Thanksgiving...and thought I was having a heart attack. I went home that night (I worked Overnights, 11m pm to 3 am) and a day later the pain was so bad I had to go to the hospital.
What I'd managed to do was seperate my ribs from the muscles on that side. I couldn't go back to work for a long time, and when I did, it was "lighter duty". Even then the pain and my side would flare up...eventually I had to quit. My employer didn't handle themselves very well and I managed to get a few thousand after a long court struggle, but this pain lasts. I do believe I'll have it until I die. It's like a crushing weight when I lie down to sleep - I can't breathe without propping the hurt side up (and sometimes barely then) -- and I can't work outside the house. I tried, but all it did was inflame the side again. -_-;
Phew! Good thing I sort of can work from home drawing (I'm a freelance illustrator) to make some money. My husband bears the major weight of the bills unless I get a good commission though. I really wish I hadn't lidtef lifted (I also have a touch of dsylexia, bear with me LOL) the turkey at all. That place was hell to work at. I hate retail.

I'm sorry to hear you're in such pain. Your
trouble started with a turkey, an mine with a phonebook - I was putting away a phonebook, and suddenly I stood there like a crooked, old lady (I was only 26 )
From there everything went downhill. Fortunately I managed to keep my mood, and this board is making my days so much easier. Hope you'll find it as
rewarding as I do to be a part of this wonderful group.
